Annotated marriage register of Lichfield Cathedral spell HIGGOTT. Actual signature and infilling of marriage licence spells HIGGITT. Noted events in his life were: • Occupation: Hatmaker. Humphry married Mary TRIGG, daughter of Samuel TRIGG and Sarah SHARPE, on 21 Oct 1753 in Lichfield Cathedral, Staffordshire, England. (Mary TRIGG was born in 1729.) Lower part of the certificate is signed by Humphry Higgitt, sealed in the presence of Jno Hutchinson. Note: the licence application is witnessed by John Doo (ie a fictional witness). The marraige is witnessed by John Hutchinson. It may be a coincidence, but the baptism of a John Hutchinson is recorded in the Rugely Parish Register, on 24 October 1733, a few weeks before that of Humphry Higgitt. |
