General Notes:
Moved to Australia from Manchester, England 1914. Arrived in Melbourne on the Norseman in March 1914 Met Alice Ruth Law through Frank Law. They enlisted and were in the same tent. Frank took Harry home and met Alice.
Moved to Sunshine after the war into a soldier settlement.
Worked at McKay's Sunshine Harvester Works until retirement.
Enlisted 1st AIF 7th December 1914. Assigned to 4/14th Battalion. Number 1720. The 4 meant he was the 4th reinforcement group. Was captured in the assault at Hill 971. His company went left around a hill, while the main force went right. They walked into a group of Turks and had no option but to surrender. Missing in action 8th August 1915 at Gallipoli. Repatriated to England 8th December 1918. Returned to Australia 12th May 1919.
